We have a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Assistant to join our Rehabilitation Inpatient Team at Stewart House, based in the LE19 area of Leicester.

Stewart House is a Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit providing care for patients who are experiencing both physical health and mental health conditions. Our patients are in separate male and female areas with an age range is from 18 to 65+.

We are looking for caring and compassionate individuals who want to help make a difference in the lives of patients and are passionate about working in mental health.

We need people who can join our dynamic multidisciplinary team, who can build a positive therapeutic working relationships with our patients to support them to develop the skills to enable them to return to the community and be able to function at optimal level.

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)

This is a permanent role, not bank role and candidates will require their own right to work in the UK as we cannot offer sponsorship.

This role involves significant domain and knowledge in the technology domain with systems like Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. IT literacy is highly recommended to meet the roles responsabilities.

About the role:

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring patients, visitors, and staff are accommodating/working within an environment which is welcoming, supportive, and safe.
You will be working closely with the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse and the team you will support and embed both local and national policies and procedures to maintain high standards within the clinical environment.

You will undertake duties like

  • Carrying out weekly, monthly, quarterly spot checks as required and as delegated by your line manager.
  • Ensuring ligature checks are completed and any new additions are escalated appropriately to your line manager.
  • Undertaking weekly mattress audits, document, and report back any findings.
  • Maintenance of the patient wrist pit alarm system and escalating any concerns as and when necessary to your line manager.
  • Management and use of Resources and Information
  • Utilise the AMaT system and Brigid for audits.
  • Keeping inventory of equipment for ward area.
  • Operating with Quality in everything you do and Maintaining a Safe Environment
  • Quality checks for Personal Safety equipment – ensuring all staff and visitors have access to a device, it is tested, signed, and dated for every shift.
  • Support the ward staff in their training compliance by undertaking Checking and Searching assessments as and when required.
  • Ensure any broken or IPC non-compliant pieces of furniture/equipment are disposed off in a timely manner and replacements are purchased.
  • Support the ward staff in maintaining a safe environment e.g. counting cutlery at meal times, management of sharps
  • Support patients in maintaining a healthy food and fluid intake, ensuring adequate fluids are available throughout the day, escalating any concerns to the Nurse In Charge
