Job Overview

The Governance & Quality Assurance Co‑ordinator plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective and person‑centred care across the Mental Health (MH) Directorate. Working within the Directorate Governance Team, the post holder contributes to a wide range of governance, patient safety and quality improvement activities. This includes supporting clinical audit, risk management, external assurance and internal governance processes to ensure high standards of safety, learning and regulatory compliance.

A key focus of this role is coordinating incident investigation processes in line with Trust policies and the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework. This includes overseeing investigation administration, supporting sign‑off processes, ensuring robust action plans, and leading on evidence collation to demonstrate learning and improvement and supporting the Coroner's process. The post also provides expert advice to clinical and non‑clinical staff on governance processes and obligations such as Duty of Candour. Working both independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary governance team, the post holder must manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, and support MH services in embedding a culture of continuous improvement and learning
