Job Overview
We are seeking Accredited Clinical Coders to join our established team. You will:
- Be competent in accurately coding multiple specialties.
- Understand the need for high quality coded data to support healthcare planning, reimbursement, management of services, statistical analysis, and research.
- Be interested in assuring the Trust wide Clinical coding SNOMED implementation and quality improvements within the clinical coding team
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Ideally hold the National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ), although experienced coders without may be considered.
If this is you, we offer a unique opportunity to be involved at the intersection of health informatics and digital transformation within the Trust. You will be part of the clinical coding assurance team, liaising within the directorates, clinical service leads, to provide the trust with accurate clinical information.
The role requires you to work to strict deadlines, whilst paying attention to detail and always maintaining a high level of accuracy. There will be some collaboration with our sister Trust NHFT.

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)
As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will be responsible for extracting clinical information from the patients’ electronic medical record, then translating this medical terminology into a series of codes using international and national classifications.
Ensuring departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and targets are consistently achieved
To work autonomously without direct supervision
To be proactive, flexible, and supportive towards an electronic way of working as the Trust develops its electronic patient record
To be self-sufficient in resolving complex clinical coding queries and issues
